Chapter 1 - Tooth Location
IN THIS LESSON…
Learn the numbering system most widely used across U.S. dentistry.
The Universal Numbering System assigns a unique number to each permanent tooth from 1–32, beginning with the upper right third molar and moving clockwise through the mouth. For primary teeth, letters A–T are used. This system is the most common in general practice, dental education, and clinical charting across the United States because of its simplicity and consistency.
